Pirongia Schools Got Talent

Pirongia Schools Got Talent Reflection

This year we have been learning a dance off Youtube This dance is called 'That Power' by Justin Bieber. Mrs Hobbs taught the best lessons of the moves we did not know how to do.Every morning we would go and practice in the hall.We could not wait for this night called 'Pirongia Schools Got Talent'.We waited for the night to come round. We got told to wear a bright T-Shirt and black pants. We were screaming and jumping around like jelly beans. Finally the curtains pulled aside for the super stars. We were shaking and smiling as the song started to play.We had to count in our heads and smile and do the right moves as the person in front of us all at the same time.

Here is a video of us doing it on the night

Science Inquiry

 Science Inquiry

This term we have been learning about science planet earth and beyond.Have you ever wondered why waterfalls spray up in the air? It’s because the force from the water causes it to flow up.The air is also hot because of all the water going so fast. This is why the rocks are there to help it flow up because it goes so fast and the rocks are there it splashes down hard on the rocks and rocks help make water splash up.So it’s mainly the force of the water draging it along to push it down and does a big splash in the air.
Things I am using to help create my model
Hot glue gun
Polystyrene
White paint
Rocks
Glitter
A container to put the rocks in.
And of course water.

I have made a model of a Waterfall why I made it it looked like a interesting subject to learn about because I love being in the water and watching waterfalls splash down in my face

I looked on the internet and found all the stuff I was looking for to help me create a model. But I didn’t have all the stuff I needed, so I made it into my own creation. I am going to pour water over my waterfall and the rocks are at the bottom to help it spray up in the air.I don’t know if it will work but I am
going to give it a shot.I really enjoyed this experience I hope I will get the chance to do it again
I love making models.

If I was a tree

                            If I was a tree

If I was a tree I could reach out my hands, grab hold of the wind. I would use my hands and make a plait with the vines. If I sensed people coming when I was doing the conga I would freeze like a statue so they didn't notice. If there was a fireworks party I would be like a spy so nobody saw me coming. I would get up close to the stage to watch the fireworks boom and bang and spread thousands of beautiful colours across the land like a rainbow. That's what I would do if I were a tree.

Maths reflection

Maths reflection.
I have learnt how to round to the nearest 10,100,1000.And how many groups of 10,100,1000 are in a number.I have spent time on mathletics which really helps me.I have learnt to take the zeros of the number for the nearest 10,100,1000.I have a good strategy I use I look at the end number and look at the first number for example round 55 to the nearest ten so you know that 5 is the magic number so under 5 it stays the same if it was 54 then the answer would be 50 but it is 55 so the answer is 60.

Swimming Sports

On a peaceful Friday morning it became my favourite day... it  was senior school swimming sports!!!
It's great to get out in the pool and try your best.

Mrs Hobbs called ''The people that want to do two lengths of the pool please come up to the marshaling area''. I had never done two lengths of the pool, so I was very shy. As I walked up I said to myself ''come on Keira you can do this''. I was shaking with fear. I sat down by all the other students, waiting to start their race. I was scared I was not going to make it. Mrs Hobbs came up to me and said ''What is your house?'' So I said ''Kakapo'." So Mrs Hobbs put me in lane 5,  I was at the back of the line. When I was at the back of the line I stared at everyone else that was racing finally it was my turn my heart was beating faster than a tiger charging through the grass. Mrs N shouted on your marks Oh No i thought get set OK i have got to panic now Go Crash!as i dived in to the pool.I swam with great fear swish swash swishy swash so I swam smash my hands touched the end of the pool.Another length I thought but there was NO time to talk because it's a race. My legs were all like jelly. My legs were floting down but I did a quick save and pushed them up I keped pushing though the water and my finally toughed the end of the pool I came last but I still felt proud because I had swam to lengths none stop so I thought I should be proud.I knew I could do it!
GO KAKAPO!!!

triathlon

I did a triathlon on Friday the 19th February 2016 we swam 5 lengths of the school pool. Ran around the block. And biked 2 laps of the field. My favorite part was swimming 5 lengths of the school pool because that cooled me down. I felt the wind blowing in between my feet. my legs were as floppy as jelly fish, riding over the bumpy hills was fun. I smelt the fresh air. I touched the ground with my feet. It felt like the wind was pulling me to the end of the race. As soon as I crossed the finish line I felt proud, I loved that afternoon.
