In Term 3 2017 we did Kahikatea team production. We only had 8 weeks to produce the play but we would usually have 10 weeks so I think we did pretty well in fact.My role in the production was being a bird I had three lines and I was SO nervous. But I think I did really well and I am proud of myself.

This week in Maths we have been learning about fractions and decimals we have been learning to plus decimals so this a question using algorithms to plus decimals..780986413.And the third line is the answer 123956456.

                            Reading  

In Reading on Monday I finished the book ‘’My Big Fat Teen Crisis’’I would rate it a five out of five-star rating it was such I good book I am also reading ‘’Vicky Angel’’ It’s a really good book too.

                               Maths

In Maths I have been learning about Place Value for Division and Times Tables. If it’s Division you take the zeros of and if times tables you put the zeros on my thumb for that would be in the middle because I get the concept of it but I think it might need to be explained to me again :) I have 1816 points on Mathletics!

                               Reading

So I went to the Waipa District Library Blah Blah Blah to make a long storey short I Found the book in the waipa district library I have been looking forever it’s called Are You There God It’s Me Margaret. And I read it and it was totally awesome!!!!!!!. Now I am reading the Taming Of Lilah May and it’s A really good book to I am really enjoying it.

                             Writing

We have not done any writing this week but at team time we did listen to Emily Brown’s Speech And Quinn Hagen’s Speech!.

                          Spelling

I Have The Spelling Bee Waikato Lists And I Am Going To Try And Do ALL The Words on the spelling list I like doing Spelling sometimes I do it for about an hour because it helps practise my handwriting and it helps with my Writing and understanding of words I don’t actually mean to do it for an hour but as they say time flys by when you're having fun!

This Afternoon we have Cross Country I sort of like Cross Country but i sort of don’t I like running but not long distances that much but I am still excited and I’m going to give it my best shot :)

                                                 Intro

Yay! Back To School. I LOVE School And I Am SOOO Excited To Be Back :) Here Is A Reflection Of My First Week Back Week 1 Term 3!

                                                Maths                                             

In Maths We Have Been Doing Times Tables Like 730x1200 Here Is My Understanding Of It. 730 x 1200 So We Go 7x1=7 Then 3x2=6 Then We Plus Those Two Equations So 7+6=13 Then We Add On The Three Zeros Because 730x1200 Has Three Zeros So We Had On The Three Zeros To The 13 So The Answer 13000 According To Me :)

                                            Writing

In Writing, We Have Been Learning About Nothing Da Da Dahh But We Have Been Learning About Emotions We Had To Write Down All The Emotions We Could Think Of Our Group Thought Of Twenty Two Emotions. It Was Sort Of Hard Because You Were Being Pressured By The Four Minutes Of Time And Everyone Was Chattering Loudly But It Was Still A Very Fun Activity.

                                       Reading

I Did Read Quite A Lot In The Holidays I Am Reading A Book Called Lilah May’s Manic Days. It’s A Good Book It’s About This Girl Called Lilah May And She’s Really Angry Because Her Brother Ran Away From Home And He Was Living On The Streets For Two Years. But He Finally Came Home But When He Did He Spent Most Of His Time In His Room. Some Nights He Didn’t Even Come Out For Dinner. Jay Wasn’t The Say When He Got Home. So They Had To Have Lots Of Family Counselling Nights. Then One Night Jay Brought This Girl Called Spud Home And She Was Forcing Him To Do Drugs And When They Were On The Roads At Night They Would Ask People For Money And Conning Them That’s What Spud Was Good At But In The End, Spud Went Back To London To See Another Boy And Jay Stopped Doing Drugs But He Was Aloud To Keep Doing One Drug But He Had To Stop The Rest He Keeped Smoking. And This Was All Around Christmas Time And Jay Got A Car But There Were Three Conditions To Having The Car And. Jay Was Normal Again Like The Good Old Days.

                               Maths

In Maths we have been learning about division I finally got the hang of it! So now I can show you an example of what I have learnt for division! So lets say we were doing the equation 78➗6 so we need to find the times table to 78 or the closest times table to 78 6x13 is a times table and it eqauls 78! and there's no remainders so our answer is 13! yeah! I am sooo happy I finally got the hang of it Yeeesss!.

Writing

For Writing we had to do a writing sample I think it was last week or the week before I honestly can't remember but I don't think I wrote about it in any of my reflections so I will talk about it now. So this storey is about the naughty Mr Gemmell again nah just joking :) Anway hey threw the test in our face will no he don't not throw it at our face he just past it to really nicely and guess what he was smiling! So I took out my penciland began tapping my pencil on the table eagerly. And I think I did a bad job and don't think I included any gems maybe one or two? but yeah. It wasn't to bad :)

Reading
I thought it would be a good idea to put this into reading instead of writing yepyou know exactly what I am going to talk about I will say it on the count of three. 1...2....3 Speeches! I read my speech to the class on Wednesday I was shaking myself to death my legs were shaking my cheecks were going bright red well it felt like it my cheecks were burning but it was fun. I had a little made up song in my speech and I sang it!. I am still reading a girl called Harry! bad idea to read it while the book challenge is going but never mind :).

This Week has been a strange and sad week for me

                                Maths

For Maths we have been learning about division Mrs Bryant put on a video to learn how to do basic division if you want to view it here’s the link Basic Division Here is an example let's say we were doing 27 # 4 I could not find the division sign so I put this # so 27 4  the closest times table to 27 is 4 x 6 = 24 so let's say there are 4 kids and they each get 6 cookies so they each get 6 and that would equal 24 so the answer would be 24 with a reminder of 3 I think I am pretty sure that’s how you do it I might have missed out a step! But that’s what I think the answer is actually I think it might be incorrect! But that’s alright at least I had a try!

                                        Writing

For Writing we have been doing speeches my topic is Just Because We Can Does It Mean We Should? I am actually starting too like speeches but at first I absolutely HATED speeches! They are the WORST THING IN THE WORLD!! Speeches don’t you dare try to pesuade me to like you!. HaHa. So Anyway I have written my first paragragh yah hoo ! (Nearly) My first paragragh was about drinking I really really wanted to include smoking but I just couldn’t because I found it hard :)

                                       Reading

For Reading I have read 10 books for the 50 book challenge yah-hoo! I read dork diaries as one of my books and when I got home from the library I realized that dork diaries was a snack book So any way I read it andto my suprise Mrs Bryant Accepted it !!! I knew Mrs Bryant wasn’t going to be to mean to me. And I was only aloud one snack in the book challenge. I LOVE the book challenge :)

                        Maths

In Maths we had a recap of how to do big times tables so for example 84x3 Mrs Bryant told us to take away a step of doing the 80x3 and the 4x3 instead we did it in our head 240 + 12 =252 so the answer is 252. And we did the times table grid and I got them all right again :) ! I got another bronze on Mathletics!

                       Writing

We have been getting notes for speeches I don’t like speeches My topic is Just Because We Can Does It Mean We Should I have three main points for it they are smoking drinking and Bullying I Have got heaps of notes for smoking I think enough to write a paragraph I just need notes for drinking and bullying it sucks that I can’t find notes at home but I am quite happy with the effort I am putting into my speech :)

                     Reading

This week I read Starring Sally J. Freedman as herself by Judy Blume I found the book kind of creepy because when Sally left Barbra at the playground bleeding she went home to go get her mum and her mum was disappointed that she had left her friend in the playground we they got back to the play ground Barbra was gone and there was always this creepy man poking around and sally thought he skinned humans alive and get their skin and make them into lamp shades that’s what creeped me a bit I have also started to read the book holes it’s a really cool book I am up to chapter ten and for the book challenge I have read 7 book nearly 9 !

                      Maths

This week for Maths we have been learning about statistics we went down on the mat with Mr Gemmell as part of our rotation.We got to pick our favourite fast food and I picked Subway. Subway got the most votes I liked doing that that was really fun I was he one who brought everyone what they from the votes. But I did NOT by anyone lunch. I really enjoyed that activity and I like doing stuff sort of like that ohh It just reminded me we did an activity but it’s something to do with writing.

Also I got a bronze medal on mathletics this year I have got 13 medals so far !

                   Writing

We didn’t do this activity this week it was last week but I didn’t but it in last weeks reflection so I am going to do it now. Like I said up there it was something a little to do with maths. Mr Gemmell would say something like ‘’Cats are WAY better than dogs’’ And there were signs saying Disagree Strongly disagree Agree Strongly Agree and there was a middle sign if you were on both sides I went to the middle but I think I was more on the cats than dogs Because dogs growl and things like that and there was an argument going on. And another question was We should have no electronics I went to disagree because I think we need them because what happens if there is a friend and there moving far far away how are you going to contact them yes there is mail but mail takes FOREVER and texts only take a second and the person has it and it’s way faster and there loads of other reasons to but I have something else I want to talk about in this paragraph too. Yes you guessed it it’s about Enviro Reps there were about 7 people competing including me and I gave a speech why I wanted to be an Enviro Rep Here’s the link too it Keira's Enviro Speech Guess What Keira and Lachlan are Room 8’s Enviro Reps :) I am so excited I never thought I would get in I think I read my speech a little too fast it didn’t go according to plan but that’s alright :)

                      Reading

For reading I have read Jacky ha ha and I have started to read a Judy blume book Starring Sally J. Freedman as herself Jacky ha ha was so cool she's a bit like me sometimes :) She is very naughty and plays jokes she does it for fun I she had to go to detention all the time and there was a part it made me laugh when there was a chair that she ALWAYS sat on on detention and she said my name should be engraved in this chair I thought it was funny I shared it for book talk too. And by this next relflection I hope to have finishes Starring Sally J. Freedman as herself :)

No! the holidays are over :( But yah schools started and I love school I wonder what I will learn this term? :)

                                  Maths

When I did maths with Mr Gemmell is part of our rotation we did thinking of strategies we were able to use we practised tidy tens and place value and something else which I forgot. The first one we did was Tidy tens I had forgotten how to do it but then I remembered as the session went on. So for example 377- 267 = 44

So we round 377 to 400 and we count from 377 to 400 to find out how many we need to keep in mind 23 is how many we need to keep in mind now we move onto 267 so we do the same thing round it to 300 and count how many we need to keep in mind 33 we need to keep in mind now 400 - 300= 100 then we take away the 33 and the 23 add them together which equals 56 so we take away 56 from 100 and the answer is 44. Ok that was not the correct answer so I need to practise that one but that’s what I thought how you do it  by the way the correctanswe is 110 :) And to the positives I got a bronze medal on Mathletics !

                              Reading

Ahhhhhh I am so excited the 50 BOOK CHALLENGE!!!! I have never ever been able to complete the 50 book challenge but I have completed the 25 book challenge so this term I am going to be a reading egg because any time you will see me is when I am reading. I finally finished the book Wonder and I started another book yesterday and I read for about 1 and a half probrarly or 2 hours and I am nearly finishedit’s 185 page book it’s called Operation Bunny by Sally Gardner. And in the weekend I am getting some books from the Te Awamutu Library to read for the 50 book challenge :)

                              Writing

For Writing we have been thinking about what topic we would like to write about for speeches I HATE speeches but I WILL do them I am thinking about writing about the smoking one or the Child Abuse but I probraly will go with smoking.In the holidays as you already know I went to a camp I also wrote some stories about the camp as well :)
