Beautiful Buzzing Bees – by Keira Opening statement Bees belong to the insect family. Description Bees have a thick waist and a thick coat of hair. They have pouches or they have baskets on their legs. They use their pouches to carry pollen. Bees have a head thorax and abdomen. Location Some bees live in hives and some live in colonies. Behaviour/dynamics Honey bees can fly speeds of up to 15 miles per hour. That might seem slow in the bug world but actually quite slow. Honey bees are made for short trips from flower to flower, not for long distance travel. Interesting Facts Their ting wings must about 12,000 times per minute just to keep their pollen laden bodies of the ground. A honey bee colony can contain up to 60,000 bees at its peak. General statement It takes a lot of bees to get all the work done. Bees are useful so you have to look after them because they pollinate flowers, fruits, and vegetables.
